Introduction to Machine Learning
The phrase machine learning was introduced in 1959. Here I found a correct definition of the algorithm studied in the field of machine learning is:
“A computer program is said to learn from experience E with respect to some class of tasks T and performance measure P if its performance at tasks in T, as measured by P, improves with experience E.” – quoted
This definition of the tasks in which machine learning is concerned to offer a fundamentally, in fact, defining the field in cognitive terms.
Machine learning tasks are classified into several broad categories, the algorithm builds a mathematical model from a set of data that contains both the input and the output.
For example, if the task were determining whether an image contained a certain object, the data for a supervised learning algorithm would include images with and without that object,
and each image would have a label marking whether it contained the object or not.
Classification of Machine Learning
Machine learning is classified as following
- supervised learning
- unsupervised learning
when the target value of any data is given and we have to only predict the trend then it is called supervised and when we not supplied with target values then it is said to be unsupervised learning in which we have to predict trend as well as the target value.
