This version of Xcode isn’t supported in this version of macOS – Updated macOS Sequoia

Hello, just a few hours back I updated my macOS 14 to macOS Sequoia Developer Beta. Everything looked so charming and nice, I tried the new features of macOS 15. I have also updated my iPhone to iOS 18 beta. Everything was nice until I tried opening Xcode 15.

I was working in Xcode 15 before I updated my macOS. But after updating it to macOS 15 beta, I realized that I can’t open Xcode 15 anymore.

I clicked on Xcode icon and it showed me something like this “This version of Xcode isn’t supported in this version of macOS.”

I know, most of you would be thinking that that’s not a big deal, we can just delete the Xcode and redownload from the app store or just update it.

But here is the key point:

You can download it again but it won’t work and the Xcode 16 is not yet released on the App store.

As we are developers, our next goal is to download the Xcode 16 beta version from the official Apple site.

You can login to your Apple account and download it from here: https://developer.apple.com/download/applications/

Now the biggest fear will come when you try to update your existing app on the App store through Xcode 16.

There is no way to update an app in the beta Xcode 16.

But if you still wish to update you can check: Upload or update App from Xcode beta to App Store But I will not recommend this at all, as it might ban your dev account.

The only thing you can do for now is to wait for the stable version and I guess it will come around this September.

Otherwise, you can downgrade your macOS again and iPhone too which will not be possible for most of us. Even I won’t do that, because it will erase the data on the devices.

A solution to fix Xcode on macOS 15

Open finder –> click on Applications –> Right click on Xcode –> Click on Show Package contents –> Open Contents –> Open MacOS –> Double click on Xcode

following the above steps you can open your Xcode 15 on macOS 16.

You can see the below tutorial if you find difficulty on opening Xcode:
